Dunkerque French super-dreadnought fast battleship

Dunkerque from an aerial view with the crew lined up on deck. This photograph clearly shows the wide spacing between the two main turrets.

Note the three dark areas painted on the hull below the catapult, funnel and 'B' turret. Possibly to break up the solid colour of the ship's side, making it more difficult for optical range finders to accurately gauge the ship's distance.
