Dunkerque French super-dreadnought fast battleship

The item that looks like a clock on the control tower is a concentration dial (also known as a "range clock"). It's use was to signal to other ships the range of the enemy. Originating from the days when coal smoke would often obscure the view of enemy ships to all but the lead ship of the battle line and before widespread use of radio, most battleships still equipped with concentration dials had them removed shortly after the beginning of World War Two.
